A pendulum makes 20 oscillations in 4.0 s on Earth and 40 oscillations in 4.0 s on planet X. A mass hung onto the lower end of a vertical spring oscillates vertically with the same period as the pendulum does on Earth.

Answer #1

Since Time period of a mass-spring system does not depend on the gravitational acceleration therefore on any planet it will have the same time period.

period of oscillation on Planet X =4/20 = 0.2 s
