Actin or thin filaments interact with myosin or thick filaments during muscle contraction.

Muscle contraction occurs when longitudinally arranged muscle filaments, that are mainly of two types - thin and thick, slide one over another. These filaments are composed of proteins ; thin filaments composed of the protein actin and thick filaments composed of the protein myosin.
