The receptor -this is located peripherally and this excited by a stimulus a generator potential is there by produced.

The afferent path-this is formed by the neuron connecting the receptor to the central nervous system when the generator potential in the receptor is strong enough, action potential are formed and propagated by the afferent path.


Center -this is an integrating area in the central nervous system formed by one or more synapses connecting the afferent path to the efferent path.

Efferent path-this is formed by the motor neurone conveying the motor command from the center to the effector organs like muscle.

Effector organs-the affected organ is usually a muscle or a gland .As a result of the reflex action muscle contracts or the gland secretes.
