In maximum 250-500 word.

In my 28 years of working for different types of organizations – public, private and consulting for companies from $4 million in revenue to $1.5 billion in revenue – I continue to be surprised how decision making impacts an organization. I’m even more surprised how the lack of decision making negatively impacts an organization. In order to accomplish anything in your company, there are two options: to make a decision and control the outcome OR to not make a decision and react to whatever happens.

  1. Organizations have integrated evidence-based decision making into their operations,creating analytic function that feed data related to the people and financial operations of the organizations. The importance of ensuring that values,norms and specific behaviors are ranged with an organization's culture. The behavior does not back up their beliefs,values and norms.Some of the organizations use selection systems which feature parts that are not evidence-based. If an organization is evidence-based then its selection selection systems should prove the approaches which are supported by the research.
  2. The following steps to make a decision are:
  • Recognize the decision: At first,team leader should discover the decision and then you need to identify when the decision should be made.
  • Assemble Information: It would be very east to make decision if relevant information are gathered.
  • Discover Alternatives: Identify the alternatives as you are likely to have different choices after the discovering the information and all the alternatives should be listed.
  • Weighing Evidence: This is the process which takes lots of time to complete and this is internal process and we have to weigh the evidence.
  • Choosing an Alternative: This is based on 4 steps described above. After weighing the evidence you should choose an alternative among the other.
  • Take Action: This is step when you are almost ready to take the action after choosing the best alternatives.
  • Review: This is the time taking process and its finally the time comes for reviewing the decision in this final step.

3. The steps taken above to make the correct decision should not be taken for granted as this is critical and crucial part for this. I have observed decision makers skipping the steps while making the decisions as it is a multi-billion strategic and crucial decision .But there was bigger problem which arrived as the decision making was made by skipping some steps which leads to disaster. This will lead to huge problem for the organization.
