Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

The priority of almost every business is increasing the stakeholders' wealth, but the concept of the Corporate Social Responsibility has emphasized that every business must and require to look after not only its profit but also on its employees, the larger society and community and environment, giving rise to the triple bottom line approach of enhancing profit, people and planet.

The hospitality industry has a giant footprint in terms of employment, consumption of the natural resources, and implementation practices in business for minimizing the negative impacts of the company on the environment.

Hyatt and their CSR

Hyatt is among those companies that are known for their CSR. Hyatt Hotel Corporation, known as Hyatt, is an American multinational hospitality company, and its headquarters is in Chicago, United States. As far as 2019, the company has more than 100,000 workforces, approx 900 properties across 20 brands, including Grand Hyatt, Park Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, Hyatt Hotels in 60 countries. The company has approx 57% rating for CSR for their initiatives.

Company engagement in CSR

  • The company has adopted the 2020 Environmental Sustainability Strategy that will focus on stewardship, reduction of waste and water, as well as stakeholder engagement.
  • They have planned for an admirable corporate responsibility program called Hyatt Thrive; It is a practical and potential CSR vision of the company goal of creating thriving communities places.
  • Through partnership, reports and employee development, the company is holding themselves responsible for a high standard set forth the company and encourage the employees for volunteering in the community
  • Te Hyatt Eco track is a global database for tracking utility data across all of its hotels all over the world.
  • In Brazil and elsewhere, Hyatt hotel work with the Youth Career Initiatives (YCI), which is a six-month education program for young people without advantaged or disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • The company has contributed to the creation and launch of the toolkit developed for advancing industry-wide food waste prevention in the association of the Americal Hotel and Lodging Association, Word Wildlife Fund, and the sup[porting team of Rockefeller Foundation.
