Schematics of the eye is described as a mathematical or physical model that represents the basic and optical features of the real eye. Schematic eye models are approximations to a real eye, use only spherical surfaces, have lenses of constant refractive index, also known as paraxial models. They are specific to the optical component of sight. The anatomy of the eye clearly explains to you that the phenomenon called peripheral vision is involved here, To explain it clearly your retina is packed with light-receiving sensory receptors called rods and cones. Only the cones are sensitive to color and are mainly clustered in the central region of the retina. When you see something from the corner of your eye its image first focuses on the retinal periphery where only few cones were located. Thus this is not a surprising fact that you can't distinguish the color of the pen you see out of the corner of your eye. The rods are more evenly spread and densely packed towards the outer regions of the retina.
