If you were in charge of Target, what would you do to more effectively compete against Walmart?
Walmart and Target compete in the same industry and have had active competition throughout. While Walmart’s prices are hard to beat, the only advantage Target has over it would be the inclusion of better customer interaction and service as well as making the use of better brands for their exclusive clothing lines. This is the area of advantage Target would be able to compete with Walmart in. Target needs to implement better customer service as well as need to add more in terms of having exclusive brands and clothing line to attract the main population out of all the groups in the given demographics.
As a manager, I would implement employee training as well as customer feedback and interaction in order to be able to implement the necessary values which can use a change as well and only allow capable employees to handle customer interaction process. I would also sit with the planning department, product department as well as the upper management to come up with better product ideas, better brands, deals and exclusive which would be the main focus of bringing a change to the company’s strategy and processes.
