Answer #1

As a responsible dweller of the Planet, one needs to compare the trade-off between the price of a product and the level of environmental-friendliness attached to the same. Often the cheap disposable materials used in a product or the product that cannot be reused again, are simply thrown off as rubbish, adding more to the land pollution in the environment, such as Plastic glasses, bags, etc. On the other side, the paper-made glasses are eco-friendly and could be recycled and reused. Therefore, given the scope, one needs to do its bit to make the world a better place to live in, by embracing more to the environmentally friendly products. Organizations today, are hence coming together to work in this mission. I completely agree with the above statement in the question.

For example, in terms of technology, Cloud computing requires the run of various complex software under one umbrella for example, Amazon. In order to make it more environmental friendly, Companies like Greenpeace are now utilizing the renewable sources of energy than powering the same by dirtier fossil fuels thereby moving a step forward to reduce the carbon footprints into the atmosphere. Similarly, if the Companies are signing to the ‘Clean energy deals’, then the use of renewable sources of energy such as that of wind or hydroelectricity, could be encouraged thereby making the purpose of cloud computing more relatable to the betterment of the environment.

Moreover, with the transition happening from the physical mode of recruitment and selection, to more modern approach to the same using the online modes of recruitment in terms of short-listing of candidates on the basis of their online Resumes or use of online modes of selection such as IQ or EQ tests, aptitude tests, etc., the modern management has come a long way. When it comes to more specifically online resume preference, it is certainly preferred to the old fashion paper resume due to one of the following reasons:

  • It offers more variety and options to the panelists than in case of the paper format resumes which at times, may not even reach the panelists at the right time. Moreover, tons of papers are saved in each recruitment process thereby making the organizations come one step forward to environmental friendly approaches.

Also, it is actually a myth that environmentally-friendly products are all expensive. Though the initial cost of investment may be little steeper, but the benefits gained from it is for a longer period of time thereby helping the consumers to recover the cost. For example, to make the more sense to Restaurant business in terms of undertaking an eco-friendly business, Restaurants now use disposable plates to serve food which are bio-degradable. Electricity used in the business applies solar panels and instruments to run their machinery for the preparation of food and also to lighten up the restaurants. Use of plastic is also restricted in many restaurant businesses to promote green marketing concepts such as the take-away parcels could be given in eco-friendly carry bags, etc. Hence, in long-term, with more acceptability of green products in the market, the cost could be spread broadly over the revenues earned through the businesses and yes, although I have studied the alternate views, none can come any closer to saving the planet than the above steps in general.
