In the context of your workplace which leadership style works best and why?
We can say that in order to understand the changing needs of the organization due to a number of variables and implications of the future events, we need to be able to change the preference and styles of leadership with the change in the outlook and situation as and when necessary. We, therefore, need to understand how the situational theory of leadership implies the working leadership in a given company. The fact that every organization is different in structure and function and can only be approached with different leadership processes allow us to understand the need to have knowledge about the situational aspect of leadership in order to be able to realize the functional aspects of leadership when we consider it with an organizational context.
At my workplace, which is a game designing indie company, the leadership style that is the most relevant in almost all scenarios is that of a democratic approach. Since the departments are divided on the basis of their input, the leader needs to be able to work between all the departments according to their own personal values and preference. Using a singular approach would work since the work, the methods, as well as the dynamics of the different department, are different and therefore, the democratic approach tends to work best.
