Describe possible gaps you observe within Situational Leadership Theory. What strategies or adjustments in your own behavior, thinking, or worldview might you consider or employ to bridge these gaps?

Situational Leadership Theory Brief

            Situational leadership theory speaks about the flexibility of leader based on team, situation, problem which they are handling. Unlike other leadership, here Leader is free to choose any leadership style.

Gaps in Situational Leadership Theory

  1. It does not address the long-term goal

Situational Leadership Theory solves the immediate problem and giving birth to new problem in future. In other way we can say that vision is not clear in Situational Leadership Theory

  1. Don’t follow SOP

SOP stands for standard operating procedure. By practicing this theory leader is getting difficulties to accomplish the task in the way in which he wants to? Here followers find easiest way to finish the works, so sometime work is not fully accomplished.

  1. Question about the maturity?

Here maturity stands for the Emotional & Professional maturity. Emotional silent people may not always be professionally mature. Professional maturity comes with the experience.

  1. Wrong Interpretation of Situation

Team will understand the situation based on the interpretation of leader. if Leader fails to understand or interpret in the wrong then it will harm the entire team and will give wrong result. For better Understand of situation, leader needs to have good skillset.

  1. Over dependency

Situational leader act as per their own understanding, so their replacement is just not found. Because there is no pattern of thinking. two people just can’t think in the same direction. so, there is overdependency on a situational leader.

Steps to bridge Gaps

  1. Organization’s long team goal should be clear and any decisions taken by the leader should not harm the vision of the organization. Goal & mission statement should be clear.
  2. The SOP should be mandatorily followed. all need to be formed by senior-most authority
  3. The leader must discuss with other teammates before taking and following any action plan.
  4. Over dependency can be overcome by the setting group of committees than giving responsibilities to a single head.
