On LB media

Minimal media is the one which contains the least amount of salt which are required by a microbe to grow. It contains the minimum amount of chemical compounds in it and only those chemical compounds are present which are indispensable for the growth of a microbe. It is used for the growth of only wild-type microbial cells.

Luria and bertani broth or lb medium is the one which contains and appropriate amount of salts and other supplementary nutrients like vitamins and amino acids as well. It is a nutritionally enriched media used for culturing microbial cells. This can be used for the growth of both wild type as well as mutant microbial cells. This is because it not only contains indispensable nutrients for life but also contains various other nutrients which enhance the growth of microbes.

So, E coli will better grow on luria and bertani broth because it is nutritional more enriched.
