The mean arrival rate of flights at O’Hare Airport in marginal weather is 195 flights per hour. To increase arrivals, a new air traffic control procedure is implemented.

a) State the Hypothesis to show there has been a significant increase in the mean number of arrivals per hour.

b) To test the hypothesis, O’Hare Airport takes data on the next 30 days with marginal weather. The data appear in the Airport worksheet of the Hypothesis Tests HW data workbook on Moodle. Use JMP to test the hypothesis of part a).

c) Using  = 0.05, draw a conclusion for the hypothesis test. Make sure you state your conclusion in the context of the problem.

d) Use the PValue Animation in JMP to determine the largest value that you can conclude the mean number of arrivals per hour is greater than at  = 0.05?
