a drier is used to dry 150kg of salmon for the production of salted fish. after cleaning and cutting, 9% of this went out as waste. if the initial moisture content of fish is 73% and the moisture after drying is 42%, calculate the weight of salted salmon that will be obtained

Answer #1

Total weight of fish is 150 kg. 9% of this went out as waste therefore weight after cleaning and cutting = 150 - 150 x 9/100 = 136.5 kg.

Initial moisture content is 73% therefore total weight of moisture = 136.5 x 73/100 = 99.645 kg and thus total weight of moisture free (complete dry) fish = 136.5 - 99.6 = 36.9 kg.

After drying, the moisture content is 42% therefore total weight of salted salmon after drying is 36.9 + 36.9 x 42/100 = 52.4 kg.

Problem 1: A study area consists of three zones -A, B, C. The trip generation model predicts the following trip productions and attractions: Trip production 170 400 330 900 Trip attraction 350 325 225 900 Travel time (minutes) between zones is given in the matrix below. For this problem, the F factor is taken as the inverse of the corresponding travel time. Also, for this example all k values are taken as 1.0. Calculate trip distribution matrix. Problem 2: A...

Introduction: The technique used to separate an organic compound from a mixture of compounds is called Extraction. Extraction process selectively dissolves one or more of the mixture compounds into a suitable solvent. The solution of these dissolved compounds is referred to as the Extract. Here the organic solvent dichloromethane is used to extract caffeine from an aqueous extract of tea leaves because caffeine is more soluble in dichloromethane (140 mg/ml) than it is in water (22 mg/ml). However, there are...

What is the theoretical yield (in grams) and percent yield of your triphenylmethanol product in this experiment? (Weight of triphenylmethanol: 0.060g) BACKGROUND AND THEORY The Grignard reaction was one of the first organometallic reactions discovered and is still one of the most useful synthetically. By reacting an organohalide (usually a bromide) with magnesium in ethereal solvent, carbon becomes a nucleophile. Grignard reagents are the starting points for the syntheses of many alkanes, primary, secondary, and tertiary alcohols, alkenes, and carboxylic...
