You have probably experienced the lights of a car dimming when the car is started, or lights in the living room dimming when the AC kicks in. The following resistance configuration explains that phenomenon. First, consider a 12 V voltage source with internal resistance of 1 Ω. We connect the source to a 100 Ω load, i. e. the car’s lights.

a) calculate the voltage applied to the lights.

b) we add a 1 Ω load in parallel to the lights, i. e. the starter motor. Now, calculate the voltage applied to the lights.

Derive equations 1 and 2, thank you! When you have a RC series circuit in an AC source of angular frequency ω (ω = 2πf), you can calculate the capacitance (C) from the equation: max, where VmarR is the amplitude of the voltage across the resistor and Vmax.c is the amplitude of the voltage across the capacitor. [You have to derive this equation in your report.] Similarly, when you have a RL series circuit in an AC source of angular...

When you ask why they are late with their share of the rent (again), your roommate explains that they would like to invest the money into buying inexpensive force sensors for about $10 each. They think they can use these to make cheap electronic drum kits and sell them at a profit. The idea is to connect a force sensor acting as a switch between a 9 V battery and an old 50 Ω (load resistance) speaker. Each customer will...
