A candle is placed 16.0 cm in front of a convex mirror. When the convex mirror is replaced with a plane mirror, the image moves 8.50 cm farther away from the mirror. Find the focal length of the convex mirror.

Solution)

Given, u=-16 cm

Let v= x cm

In case of convex morror, image distance= object distamce

So, 16= x + 8.5

X=v= 7.5 cm

Now we know

1/f= 1/v + 1/u

1/f = 1/7.5 - 1/16

F=14.11 cm
