Answer #1

It may be ethical to take habit-forming drugs if there are required and necessary for the improvement of our medical condition, for example, all drugs to treat mental disorders are habit forming, but if a patient is schizophrenic for example he or she has to take the medicine to improve the quality of his or her life. It is not ethical to use a substance for which the research evidence is not yet conclusive and which might be harmful, because we should only use a substance that has been approved by the FDA, on the basis of some research evidence.
