A boy kicks a soccer ball, giving it an initial speed of 7.5m/s at an angle of 27° above the horizontal(=ground). How high will the ball go? How far will it travel?

Gravitational acceleration = g = 9.81 m/s2

Initial velocity of the ball = V = 7.5 m/s

Angle of velocity = = 27o

Maximum height reached by the ball = H

Distance traveled by the ball = R

This can viewed as a projectile and for projectile motion the maximum height reached is given by,

H = 0.591 m

For projectile motion horizontal distance traveled is given by,

R = 4.64 m

a) Maximum height reached by the ball = 0.591 m

b) Distance traveled by the ball = 4.64 m
