Answer #1

Driving forces in dissolution process are Hydrogen bonding, dipole-dipole force, ion-dipole force and vander waal force.

Example:

1. Ethanol and ammonia can make hydrogen bonding with water , hence they are readily soluble in water.

2. Ionic compounds forms ion-dipole force with water , hence they are soluble in water.

3.

HCl is highly polar hence dissolves in water due to dipole-dipole force.

4.

Nonpolar molecules dissolves in nonpolar solvents due to vander waal force.
