1. A real life example of using ratio or proportions can be baking, where each of the ingredients need to be in a certain ratio determined by the recipe, to have the perfect taste.

2. A real-world example of direct variation can be the total price of chocolates with the number of chocolates that were purchased.

3. The tip to be left is determined by taking a fixed percentage of the bill. Then it is distributed among the members of the party, according to the proportion of the total bill which was the cost of the food of the member.
