19th century in USA can for sure be classified as dope fiend paradise. As drugs were available at very little prices. Opium was available at low prices. Morphine became famous during world war 2. They were easily available as medicines now. Reasons of them flowing into the market without any restrictions were:

  • Opium could be ordered by mail, if they cannot find it nearby.
  • Grocery stores as medical shops start selling these drugs.
  • ;Physicians started writing prescription to consume opium.
  • Medical stores started selling opium even without doctor consult.
