  • HBPS is  2-(2′-hydroxyphenyl)benzenesulfinate.
  • The enzyme is 2-(2′-hydroxyphenyl)benzenesulfinate desulfinase (DszB).
  • The products formed are sulfite and 2-hydroxybiphenyl (HBP).
  • The study was done with choro and bromo analogs of HBPS and no products were formed i.e. The enzyme activity was inhibited when such analogs of HBPS are used instead of HBPS.
  • However, when HBPS was used in the presence of these chloro and bromo analogs of HBPS, the activity of the enzyme was found to be enhanced.
