Rewrite the following paragraph to meet the standards of academic writing. Remember that academic writing should be impersonal, formal, thorough, and precise.

There’s a really big gap between rich and poor in Australia. It’s not really a place where everyone’s equal. A few rich people own a huge amount of the money and property and stuff. Half the people own everything. Everyone’s divided up into the ‘haves’ and the ‘have nots’. The rich people are the ‘haves’. The poor people are the ‘have nots’. Some people think it’s easy for poor people to get rich. If you get rich you can move up in the world. I think that people mostly don’t move around. They stay in the class they were born in. What makes things worse is if you’re black or a girl. Girls are a whole lot poorer than men. They have less money and they don’t own much important stuff.

Solution:

The gap between rich and poor is increasing in Australia. This fact becomes evident when we look at the disparity in the income levels of the people. This leads us to deduce that there is little to no equality in terms of monetary aspects in Australia. This disparity arises because only a selected few people own the majority of the wealth of Australia leaving other people in the poor category. Australia seems to be divided into two classes of people who are often termed as haves and have nots where the haves are the rich and the later as the poor. It is a common perception that people think it is easy for the poor to get rich and be able to climb the ladder of becoming wealthy. But, this fact is not correct because it so happens that people generally stay within the same income class they actually belonged to and this fact becomes more evident if you are a black ethnic person or a female person. It is seen that females have been not as successful as men and may not have more money and important wealthy traits.
