You need to plan for the future growth of your corporation, yet keep prices down. What monitors/logs should you configure to determine if you need additional memory in a server? What monitors/logs should you configure to determine if you need additional processing power in a server? Would it be better to monitor network utilization from a server or from a router? Why?

1) What monitors/logs should you configure to determine if you need additional memory in a server?

Answer: this is the very good question to ask every one before you build an application. As per system memory management would be different. we need to check how many requests, how much data etc, how many users will going to use concurrently.based upon these above scenarios, we all will decide the memory needed.

As per the windows system side, as a developer we will use performance tools/task manager and will check the memory utilization (how the consumsion of memory moving).

in above diagram, In use, avaialable are keep on changes based on your system performances.so we can decide how much memory consumsion will be decided.

2) What monitors/logs should you configure to determine if you need additional processing power in a server?

Answer: before configure to determine the additional processing power, we will check the functionality that how many cores it has and each time how many threads are creating(or we are creating).

Means, a core can handle only two threads at a time, CPU will organise the memory to threads and messaging system will push the work to threads in a thread pool. so if the thread pool is full(because of memory issue), the system will wait for other works to completes. here sometimes systems applications will go hang.

in Task manager you can view how logical processors are running at a time(threads).

based on this we can decide how much additional processing power is needed in the future.

3)Would it be better to monitor network utilization from a server or from a router?

Answer: no, because your LAN is more faster than router and router can not produce much bandwidth due to exposing it as multiple users with single LAN.
