Answer #1

Ocean Trenches and Canyons are deep oceanic feature. But they differ in processes of formation characteristics. Ocean Trenches are formed due to Tectonic activities. When Tectonic plates converge, on plate goes downwards and other overrides it. The overriding plate is forced to bend and bow downwards, due to the friction caused by undergoing plate. This bend is a deep formation called Ocean Trench.

On the other hand Submarine Canyons are less deep features found on the Continental Slope regions. These are deep carvings, usually formed by downward erosion on sea floor by the Rivers that join Ocean. So these are formed near Ocean - River confluence.

So in this way they both are different.
