Milestone celebrations are great way to provide a good external motivator for projects in the same way that these help motivate us to work hard and achieve important milestones in life. For example, internally keeping a milestone to visit a country abroad with my wife post marriage helped me in saving up enough to afford this abroad vacation on our 5th anniversary.
Similarly such an internal goal linked to celebration would motivate the project team to put in extra work to achieve the objectives of the project in order to deserve the celebration and this would in turn help the company complete critical projects in time and within budgeted costs.
