You are stranded on an Arctic wasteland with your Conceptual Physics Class. Forget food and survival – you're playing with circuits to pass the long winter months. You have two batteries, some wire and two light bulbs. If you must use both batteries and both bulbs how would you hook them up so as to get

a)	maximum brightness
b)	minimum (not zero!) brightness?
c)	If the circuit does not work how would you determine if the problem is a short or an open?

(a) For maximum brightness, we will need that maximum current flows through the bulb. This happens when the bulbs are connected in series. So, we hook them in series.

(b) For minimum brightness, we will need to split the current. So we will hook them in parallel.

(c) Connect them one by one in series and parallel, individually, to know if the problem is a short or an open.
