Answer #1

Yes, the females of JL population do not recognize the songs of males of XN population. This results in females of JL population not mating with XN population. This causes a reproductive isolation of the XN population. Isolation mechanisms are the main mechanisms for evolution of a new species. Reproductive isolation , as we see in the XN population, will separate the genes of that population. There is no mixing of the genes happening in the absence of the reproduction. This leads to different mutations accumulating in the two populations and different adaptations or changes happening in the two populations. That ultimately leads to evolution of a new species.

Female birds who practice polyandry might see benefits if they obtained genes from several partners who are particularly compatible with the genes in their eggs. If the preceding sentence is a hypothesis, what prediction follows? (2 marks) Typically, females in the population will mate with the same very few males. The males chosen as reproductive partners will vary substantially from female to female. Males of this particular species are more likely to exhibit lek polygyny. Females exhibiting polyandry will obtain...
