Answer #1

It has been observed increase in drought indices as positive trends in the tropical-subtropical region. Dry periods frequency is increase in past few years. In return due to dry spell, forest/vegetation cover too reduced in this region which becomes one of the major factor for global warming. Total CO2, and other greenhouse gases absorption depends on vegetation cover, due to increase in dry spell - it causes a vicious circle of global warming which in turn increases more frequent dry-spell.

Impact on interspecific competition in ecology:

Invasive plants population may increase with rise in drought area and global warming. This can harm the native species which are more suitable with the older and stable climate. Surviving in erratic climate with dry spell is hard for native species, this will surely invite or help those species which are more adaptable with dry climatic condition.

With this we can conclude that there will be major shift in the ecosystem of drought affected area.
