Please Assume you are the head of HR for a large multinational company (BCD, Inc.) located in the USA. The company wants to open a new subsidiary in China, and the CEO wants your recommendation for how to staff the top leadership function there (title of the role is President of China, BCD, Inc.).

Keeping in mind this week’s readings about global HR, culture, expats, etc. What would your recommendations be?

According to the scenario, the multinational organization BCD, Inc is planning to expand its business towards China through opening a new subsidiary. When considering the staffing of top leadership functioning like the president of China, BCD Inc, the organization has to consider factors like global HR, Culture of China, expatriation, etc.

The specified leadership role, the president of the subsidiary in China is a very important and responsible position. Hence, an individual with good experience, qualification, knowledge in relation to the culture and social life of the Chinese population would be an appropriate candidate.

It can be recommended the organization can opt for a candidate from the Chinese market. He would possess the cultural knowledge, buying behavior, customer demands, etc and hence, the organization can yield sustainability in the market effectively. The expatriation can be avoided as the Chinese market is less savvy than the USA market. Hence, if the employee is expatriated it can impact the social living of the individual and can demotivate him. His concentration can deviate him from his responsibilities.
