Answer #1

RNA is capable of assuming a much greater variety of structure than DNA because of following reasons:

* Nature of molecule: The RNA is single stranded in nature where as DNA is double stranded in nature. The double stranded do not allow to change the structure of DNA but RNA can changebits structure.

* Hydrogen bonding: There is found hydrogen bonding between two strands of DNA but there is found hydrogen bonding in between single strand. That's why the hydrogen bonding can be formed between any region in the RNA molecule.

* Size of molecule: DNA is larger in size as compared to RNA. So there will be required less energy for changing the structure of RNA as compared to DNA.

* Structure of molecule: The DNA has two strands which are joined by hydrogen bondin and the nitrogenous bases in the DNA is stacked to each other. But there eis not found such stacking in RNA molecule. That's why RNA molecule has much greater variety as compared to DNA molecule.
