It is seen that gut microbes synthesise a lot of neurochemicals that results in changes in the mood. This chemicals are often utilised by our brains to control the emotional fluctuations of out bodies Gut microbes produces neurotrasmitters like serotonin that provides a happy feeling and also contribute in the good mood and gaining apetite and other aspects like reward learning etc. Most of the serotonin is produced in the gut by the microbes This is how the microbes are able to alter th mood status of the individual.
