When we taste sweet food, our body prepared to release the hormones and activate the metabolism to accept the incoming sugar load. This helps in keeping the blood glucose under control. But artificial may "trick" this and doesn't receive any sugar or calories. So it may stop releasing the hormones and reviving the body. If calorific food is consumed later, body will not be prepared to metabolize the sugar load, which could potentially lead to higher glucose level and weight gain.
