Goal

The goal of this assignment is to think about who you are as a professional and create a personal brand for yourself. Building a recognizable personal brand opens up professional opportunities. Creating a vision for your future and implementing that vision can lead to a better job, better contacts and clients for your company, and industry recognition.

Requirements

For this assignment, you are required to compile a short slide presentation (2–5 minutes = 5 slides) of your professional brand elements. Narration and/or music is optional. Don’t overthink this one – it’s really as simple as it sounds.

Consider the following tools to develop your video:

1. Prezi

2. PowerPoint

3. A tool of your choice which meets the assignment requirements.

Your slides should include:

1. A concise vision statement/phrase (not a sentence) that connects your main beliefs/values to accomplishment of future goals.

2. Your area of professional expertise including at least 3 words to describe who you are as a professional (do not write long explanations)

3. Examples (such as a screen capture) of your social media profiles (e.g., Facebook, Twitter). If you do not have a social media presence or prefer not to share yours, state which platforms you would use and how you will develop one for your professional online presence. Use point form for descriptions.

4. A signature image, graphic, or symbol that reflects who you are and that is clearly labeled for the viewer (with a point form explanation).

5. Examples of your community presence and/or involvement (ex. volunteering). If you do not yet have a community presence, state how you will develop one.

Notes:

• Research company/organization vision statements for examples and then apply those concepts to your ownvision statement (short phrase starting with action verbs works best)

• If you do not have a social media presence, indicate how you would develop one

• If you don’t have any volunteer or community experiences for #5, suggest what you will/could do

• Remember that point form is far more effective than full sentences for presentations and graphics/pictures are more effective than words

• Include a title on every slide

• Your representative graphic, symbol or image should be clearly labeled

• Have fun creating this presentation!
