Legal consideration of public relation is invasion
privacy.
A recent event on invasion privacy is the incident of Brightest
flashlight. The Brightest flashlight incident happened in the year
2013. The brightest flashlight software was downloaded more than 50
million times that breached the privacy of customers by revealing
their current location.
The FTC organization took severe action against the makers of the
Flashlight app as the company started revealing the location
information of the PR clients through the software. FTC
organization took action against the owner of the app Gold Shores
Technology requesting them not to disclose the personal information
of the user publicly. The company was legally ordered to improve
its notification standard by providing users the authority to hide
their location information and privacy information.
Legal actions can be considered in this case properly to ensure the
ethical standard of privacy. Section 15B of the Privacy Act(1974)
could be imposed against the organization for not keeping any
privacy option initially for the customers. It was unethical to
reveal consumer's location information without his consent that
