Ethics is a very interesting subject area because we respond to situations based on our own personal value system. What might be ethical in some situations to me, may not be for you. Discuss what you would do in each of the following situations and why. Is it ethical behavior?

o You are not really sick, but you want to take the day off. What do you say when you call your supervisor?

o You are on a job interview for a job you really want, and the interviewer mentions that the candidate she hires will need to be fluent in Excel. Although you are familiar with Excel, you are not especially good at it and don’t really know all the features. What would you say when she asks you about your skill level with Excel?

o You went on a business trip for the company you work for and are preparing your expense report. You are able to include tips, mileage, and other categories without a receipt. Since you’ve been working a lot of overtime without pay, you consider adding in an additional $25 to cover your extra hours; no one will notice. What do you do as you are completing the expense report?

o Your boss takes the afternoon off but asks you to tell everyone at the staff meeting that he is in a meeting with a client. When you are in a staff meeting, a manager asks you why your boss isn’t there. What would you say?

1)

If i am not really sick, but want to take the day off then i will choose the right method that my supervisor will prefer.I will say "Sir/Mam I am sick and I want to take day off",it will be in brief as no one is interested in your long descriptions. Also i will not tell anyone from my staff that I've lied even though they are friends as it will be risky. Also i will not post any pictures on social media as through it anyone can catch me.For me this will be ethical behavior, as if i need a break and if i can only take a sick leave then i don't think there is something wrong in it.I can take rest and next time can do extra work to cope up with my absence.

2)

Since i want my dream job i will definitely not say that I don't have knowledge of excel as they will give their first priority to the person who is excellent in excel. So I will answer in a such a way that they will come to know that I am familiar with excel and need a platform where I can prove myself, can explore my knowledge.I have the ability to learn new features and deal with it appropriately.I will make interviewer know that I am good in learning new thing and is very challenging person who can accept the challenge and even if don't know about certain things or the features,I am capable of learning and doing it.Organization want employee who is very strong, hardworking, challenging, good learner and dynamic. So when you show all this quality to them they won't dare to loose you.
