1.    Groundwater, large dam-and-reservoir systems and water transfer projects, desalination are our primary sources of freshwater. Briefly describe each and in your opinion which one do you think causes the most significant environmental consequences? Why?

Groun water is present of water bneath the earth surface . when precipitation occured water infiltrated the groound and travelled down from soil surface and accumulated space between sediment and cracks of rock as aquifers , this collection of water is called ground water.

Dam and Reservoir are the artificial lake where water is store. Reservoir are mainly made across the river by forming  a dam[ dam is long and high wall which  constructed across the river ] due to this dam water flow can be decrease and stoped and then this water can be used for irrigation purpose. Dam are also constructed for divert the course of river accordin to human will . this have deleterious consequence to  enviroment like it degrade land and soil . affect the enviroment by increasing the green house gass and other like social and economic life of people affected .

Water transfer project is mainly divergen of by canel system and pipeline system . the main purpose of this project to meet the multi purpose like industrial use , water for urban , and irrigation .

Desalination of water project sae water drinkable by removing the salinity of water . people cannot drink saline water so by processing it can made be drinkable .

dam and reservoir system of water is most sinificant for enviroment consequence because it is human made barrier cunstruct across the water way . it limit the usual limit of river and disturb ecological balnce . when the vegitation submerge in water by storage of water it produce green house gase like mithane , it impact the aquatic animal by destroying natural folow of water , it increase the sesmic instability , and it also disturb by several way like disturb people social and economical life who live along with river bank and spread desease.
