eutrophication is the overgrowth of aquatic plants due to the increased levels of mineral and other nutrients required for the plant growth in the water body.

plants cannot take the atmospheric nitrogen, cyanobacteria can fix the atmospheric nitrogen to nitrates, so if the nitrogen source from the water bodies are removed the cyanobacteria can flourish it can fix nitrogen and utilize other components from the water body to grow.
