Answer #1

E-Portal: It is nothing but the enterprise information. It is one type of gateway through which we can get the access to all the information or data, systems etc which are used by the business partners. Business partners are nothing but the stakeholders which includes employees of that organization, customers, investors etc. As the IT shares are downing day by day but the amount which is spending on the e-portals are very high.

Synchronous execution:

It is the process in which if one program is executing or running then we have to wait up to its execution then only we need to go to the next instruction or process. Before completing the first task we cannot perform the second task. After completing the first task only we can go to the second task and we can perform the functions there.

Asynchronous execution:

A process in which we can perform another task before completing the first task. We can able to move to the next task before completing the first task.

In computer terminology, the process or a program which is running currently is called "thread". A thread is a series of instructions which is executing as a block of one unit. The operating system has the capacity to maintain a number of threads and it is called as "Multithreading". The Operating System allocates each thread group some particular time slot. At that time only they will be executed.

At first, all the web methods which are present in the web services are synchronous only. A simple request from XML and HTTP is somewhat asynchronous whereas the original execution from the server is perfectly in synchronous mode. The moment when the request is passed to the server from the client at that instance of time the response is created from the ASP.NET. If the web service takes a somewhat very long time to complete the process then the thread which is under execution will be under the method call. If you have made a message through the database, the current thread which is running at present waits for the message to complete.

In my opinion, asynchronous methods are may not be used for this type of services like e-portals, business platforms etc. Because when we are calling for an external web service synchronously(before completing the first task). The external call must be asynchronous only. If we are applying any operations in any database the operations by default use all synchronous methods it means that if our first task is to create a table of employees and the second task is deleting two employees from the list, then the system performs the first task firstly and then it goes to the second. Then all the operations which are in the database must be asynchronous if we perform asynchronous execution and the database is not at all perfect.

We should not use these asynchronous methods because when there is no waiting on any I/O Operations(input and output) it does not give any use and which includes HTTP request, asynchronous database operations etc. So it is very better to use the synchronous web methods in the web services for e-portal applications.
