Answer #1

Solution :

Given that,

n = 200

x = 118

Point estimate = sample proportion = = x / n = 118 / 200 = 0.59

?̂ = 1 - = 1 - 0.59 = 0.41

margin of error = E = 0.05

At 99% confidence level

= 1 - 99%

= 1 - 0.99 =0.01

/2 = 0.005

Z/2 = Z0.005  = 2.575

sample size = n = (Z / 2 / E )2 * * (1 - )

= (2.575 / 0.05)2 * 0.59 * 0.41

= 641.57

sample size = n = 642

correct option is = b
