As of 2010, Texas’s population was nearly 85% urban. What are the causes of this urbanization? How might this affect the political culture of the state? What are the effects of suburbanization?
There can be a number of reasons for the urbanization of Texas. Some of the reasons for the same are listed below:-
As a result of urbanization, there also have been some changes in the demographics of the state of Texas. Owing to this, the state of Texas is shifting more towards the Democrats from Republicans. There was a time when the Republicans hegemonized over the state but because of the changing social and demographic constructs, that is set to change.
Suburbanization is basically the shift of the population from the central areas of the city to the outskirts of the city. This is generally because of the shifting of business and job centers out of the city. Businesses have an advantage in doing so they can have land at a much better rate when compared to the city. The effects are generally seen in the ways in which people accommodate and travel around the state.
