Can a firm`s managers control the process of job crafting? What challenges does it present for them?
Job crafting is a means of changing the tasks and responsibilities of a job which enhances the chances of utilizing the opportunities for the employees. Job crafting is done by the employees. No, job managers can't control the process of job crafting. Managers make individual job design for each of the employees but job crafting doesn't change the design of the job assigned by the employees but tries to enhance it's opportunities so that they can make valuable contribution to an organization. Employees can be flexible with their jobs as well as can improve their interpersonal relationship. Job crafting reframe and restructure jobs so to customize it.
One of the greatest challenges is that managers may not always get resources to let the employees do job crafting for their good. Sometimes trust issues occurs between managers and employees.
Hope this helps :)
