Answer #1

GM was in the news of massive product liability because there were thirteen deaths due to the faulty manufacturing of the cars that led to serious defects. After investigation, GM recalled about 3 million vehicles due to its myriad defects. The reason that consumers of cars need more consumer protection than the consumers of shovels because it is a matter of life or death for the car owners and this is not the case for the consumers of shovels. Consumer protection helps consumers to obtain accurate information from the sellers so that they are not misled. Car manufacturers provide safety equipment for the consumers and provide them with the information that the safety equipment in the car would protect them in case of any accidents. When the product itself is faulty, then there is a question about safety in cars. This is not the case of the consumers of shovels.
