In Quality Management, we need to be able to think about applying those engineering techniques across our organization’s major process areas in order to better instill quality into everything the organization does. In particular, we need to be able to explain to management how our overall quality management strategy is enhanced by implementing these quality engineering disciplines.

Question

Provide an example of a situation where the application of one or more of the techniques discussed in the readings would be expected to enhance the broader quality management of the organization. Discuss how you would explain this to organizational management in order to convince them that they should support the enablement of the associated engineering activities.

Quality management ensures that an organization, product or service is consistent.it has four main component.

QUALITY PLANNING

QUALITY ASSURANCE

QUALITY CONTROL

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT

Quality engineering is the discipline of engineering concerned with the principles and practices of product and service quality assurance and control.

ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY USED IN QUALITY MANAGEMENT

  1. Just in time
  2. lean manufacturing
  3. Agile manufacturing
  4. world class manufacturing
  5. total productive maintenance
  6. bench marking
  7. Business process re-engineering
  8. six-sigma etc..   

Here we need to apply those engineering techniques across our organisation major process areas in order to better quality into all sector of organisation.

for example if a situation ,an organisation may face instability and a sense of urgency among workers it may affect the production of an organisation .when a machine is goes down,there is no sense of urgency excess inventory will keep the operation running while maintenance fixes the problem.

if using TOTAL PRODUCTIVE MAINTENANCE [T P M]

T P M is a holistic approach to equipment maintenance that strives perfect production.

  • No breakdown
  • no small stops or slow Running
  • no Defects

In addition it values a safe working environment:

No accidents,T P M emphasizes proactive and preventative maintenance to maximize the operational efficiency of equipment.The implementation of T P M program creates a shared responsibility for equipment that encourages greater involvement by plant floor workers.

B P R is the analysis and redesign of work flows with in and between enterprises in order to optimize end to end process and automate non value added tasks.
