Innate immune system components, for each one of the components, indicate: what privates the component and what functions does this component play in the mine defense of the body?
Answer=
Innate immune system components are as follows:
1.Physical barriers = Physical barriers are the first line of defense against microorganisms.
it includes skin and mucous mucous membrane
-Most organisms and foreign substances can not penetrate intact skin but can enter the body if the skin is damaged.
-The acidic pH of sweat and sebaceous secretions and the presence of various fatty acids and hydrolytic enzymes like lysozyme inhibits the growth of most of the microorganisms.
-respioratory and gastroinstinal tracts is also covered by cilia.
-Tears contain lysozyme, lactoferrin,IgA and thus provide chemical as well physical protection.
2.Chemical mediators = various molecules acts as chemical mediators are
a.complement = It is heat labile component of blood plasma that augments phagocytosis.
-activity is antibacterial activity of antibody.
- Also bridges innate and adaptive immunity and removes immune complexes.
- Activation of complement in response to certain microorganisms results in a controlled enzymatic cascade, which targets the membrane of pathogenic organisms and leads to their destruction.
b.Cytokines- is any low molecular weight soluble protein or glycoprotein released by one cell population which acts as an intercellular mediator.
- It includes Monokines, lymphokines, interleukins, interferons and others.
-Cytokine are required for immunoregulation.
- Interferones are cytokines made by cell in response to virus infections which essentially induce a generalised antiviral state in surrounding cell.
3.Pattern recognition molecule -
pattern recognition molecules that recognize pathogen -associated molecular pattern may be soluble circulating proteins or cell surface receptors.
- Mannose lectin binding and C-creative protein are soluble pattern recognition molecules that bind to microbial surfaces and promote their opsonization.
-Toll like receptors functions exclusively as signalling receptors.
4.Phgocytic cell, dendritic cell,NK cells

help!! Immune system is our body defense system against foreign pathogens. Describe how innate and adaptive immunity respond and defend against a novel virus, such as SARS-CoV-2
what component of bacterial cell can activate the innate immune system and may produce hypotension, metabolic defects and coagulopathy? name a genus and spwcies of 2 bacteria that can be involved in this pathogenic mechanism
Your body encounters a bacterium that is coated in LPS. How does the innate immune system recognize and respond to the bacteria in your system? Make sure to include any pathways of activation, cells or processes that will be utilized.
What would an increase in neutrophils indicate? Which cells are part of the innate immune response? Which cells are part of the adaptive immune response? What is the difference between serum and plasma?
Innate immunity: metaphor Imagine the siege of a castle. All of a sudden, the besiegers break through the castle’s defenses. During the invasion, the invader breaches the castle’s first line of defense. The defenders meet it with more powerful weapons and specialized troops. The same scenario is true of invading pathogens. Think of another logical metaphor that explains the features and functioning of the innate immune system. Draw your metaphor in cartoon-style, label each of the following immune-system components in...

42.1 Innate Immune Response2 Homework – Unanswered. Due in 4 days Which is true of interleukins and interferons? A interleukin is a cytokine, while interferon is an enzyme they both are found on the surfaces of pathogens, however interleukins are located within the phospholipid bilayer of external cell membranes while interferons are externally attached to cell membranes via a stalk-like structure, allowing them to play a defensive role O C they both are released by pathogens, helping pathogens overcome the...
