I posted this previously, but the answer I received was unclear and a concept we have yet to talk about in my physics class. Can someone else give me a more clear explanation?

For part of our lab we drew an arrow on the face of a flashlight (that did not have a curved lens). We then shined the flashlight onto the wall and observed that the image was very blurry. the question asks "You may see a shadow of the arrow you drew, but you will not see a focused image on the wall. Explain why" Can you explain this?

is it because light is bouncing off parts of the arrow we drew on the flashlight and also going through it? Also why would putting a converging lens between the flashlight and the wall focus the image and make it more clear?

Answer #1

Yes, the bouncing of light and there is some role of diffraction too .That is why the image on the wall is not very clear. Putting a converging lens between the flashlight and the wall redirects light rays that were being disturbed(bounced) due to the arrow mark.

If any problem,please comment.

Can u answer questions 1&2 with clear writing please We will be looking at the movement of light along straight lines using the optics bench. You've most likely also used a mirror to see yourself or other things by way of their reflected image. In fact, everything you see is based on the light that bounces off or travels through the material between you and the object you're looking at. This is why it's harder to see detail or distance...

Topic: Business Opportunities for Apple So the company that I have been researching is Apple. We all know that Apple has gotten a lot pricier over the years, and their reputation has kind of taken a hit due to it. Apple also isn't known for being the most charitable or a business that really focuses on helping the community around them. I think a great investment idea for Apple would be on that gives back to the communities around their...
