Organic Chemistry:
Question: Why might salt ibuprofen lysinate be expected to be more soluble than ibuprofen itself?
Ans : Ibuprofen contains a polar carboxyl group (-COOH) but the non-polar alkyl group and benzene ring which significantly reduces it's polarity. So, the Ibuprofen is quite non-polar while water is a polar molecule.Hence, Ibuprofen is insoluble in water.
On the other hand, the salt Ibuprofen lysinate is soluble in water because it is an ionic form and can form ion-dipole bonds with water.

4. Benzoic acid is almost 12 times more soluble in dichloromethane than in water at room temperature (the distribution coefficient (K) is 11.7). a) Approximately how many grams of benzoic acid would be recovered in the organic layer if 10.0 g of benzoic acid dissolved in 100 mL of water was extracted with 100 mL of dichloromethane? Show calculations. b) Approximately how many grams of benzoic acid would be recovered if the water layer was extracted a...

In my organic chemistry class we just did the resolution of (S)-(+) Ibuprofen enantiomer, and in my lab report it asks us to discuss why the recemate has a different melting range from a pure enantiomer of the same substance, but i'm not realy sure why? DOES someone understand this and can explain this to me, i keep finding different answrers on the internet and one says that its because of affinity? what does that mean?

The cyclopentadineyl carbocation is very unstable and extremely difficult to form. However, the cyclopropynyl corporation is more stable than expected. (AUM general form of the MO diagrams for the and systems are shown below. Using the spaces provided in the MO diagrams, show the electron distributions for the two Label each case each diagram briefly explain why the MO pattern successfully predicts stability or instability.
