What is your personal opinion about the issue of body image perception in mass media?
Recently , I just have come through two advertisements of Dove
and Slimming Capsule and analyzed that why the body image is used
in advertising and what are or could be impacts of this kind of
advertising At present, a strong co-relation has been witnessed
between advertising and body image. Body image has become one of
the crucial tools for advertising. A customer focuses on what he or
she sees in advertisements and assumes that how could he or she
look and how he or she should look. Body image advertising
influences customers about their body image. They use physical
attractiveness for more sales. They use body image for getting the
messages across customers and tries that customers view their ads
in a positive way.
I think the body image perception in mass media has created many
issues for both male and female, but females are facing more
negative consequences. Women and teenager girls compare themselves
to the imaged every day, and they often feel low because these body
images are flawlessness which does not exist I realty and this
failure to meeting these expectations is inevitable. The negatives
results of this kind of advertising are hidden, and it is a fact
that it creates issues and sometimes leads to a more pathetic
situation such as sexual exploitation, emotionally and verbally
abuse and stalking.
