Answer #1

The company success is driven by I/O or input output model. We should figure out what will be needed as input for the company and what output or results we will get.In our case analysis of Mcalister's Restaurant chain we will need inputs like funds, human resource, restaurant machinery like coffee machine, oven, burner etc, restaurant furniture, interior decorations, waste disposal and many more. We need to do a quantitative and qualitative analysis to figure out how many or how much inputs will be required and then categorize them into different queues like human resource, material etc. The output in our case will be profit, customer satisfaction, reviews, good quality and many more.

The PESTEL analysis will include the following factors into our case study like-

Political- We need to analyse any political impact on the company like if there is a political mandate or ban on any substances and we should not use them in our restaurant.

Economic- The economic condition of the neighborhood needs to be ascertained so that the menu can be priced according to the people living condition and budget. Also study the prices at which the competitors are selling the same items.

Social- The social factors also need to be studied like what type of food is preferred by the general public and what will be considered as a new entrant. Also if our business will cause any impact on the neighborhood.

Technological- We need to figure out like what technology process to be implemented and what is easily available for us to procure. It can be to do with payments like cash/card/e-wallet, how orders are placed manual or online etc.

Environmental- We need to find out if our business is going to create any impact on the nearby or overall environment as a whole. It can be to do with like waste disposal, smoke management, banning or allowing smoking etc.

Legal- We need to analyse if there will be any legal proceedings in future then whom should we contact. We can make an understanding with a legal firm to support us when required.

Vision- We need to figure out our vision or goals for our business. Whatever we do should be in compliance to the agreed vision. Our work should be in violation of our goals. There can be short and long term vision. Short term vision should be achievable within a short period of time like 6 months or a year. However the long term vision should be achievable in long terms like five years and ten years time. These visions should be achievable and should not be something which only looks good in paper.

Mission- We should also have a clear idea of what is our mission. What we need to do in order to reach our vision or goal. It can be a step by step process which brings us closer to our vision. Additionally the mission needs to be planned realistically and should not be void.

We can plan five forces for the company which we need to be very good at. Say if I say my restaurant food preparation time is very quick then we need to maintain that. We need to figure what is agreed value and what is not. This also needs to be communicated to the staff so that they know what is expected from them.
