Robin Hood steals from the rich. After stealing he feels bad and distribute a part of his earning to the poor. Robin Hood is reducing cognitive dissonance.

Cognitive dissonance is a concept that refers to the difference between one’s beliefs and their behaviors. This means people who are not able to stick to their belief system and does something differently would undergo cognitive dissonance which would leave them unhappy. In this scenario, Robin Hood knows that stealing is wrong, so in order to reduce the tension, he donates some money to the poor.
