Find two Websites that have similar purposes, such at two online book stores, weather sites, news outlets, search engines, and so forth, and select one with a good interface and one with a poor interface. Compare how these two sites achieved the design goals discussed in this chapter. In what ways is the good site's interface effective, and in what ways does the other site fall short?

For this assignment let us consider two news websites. For a good and optimized interface let us consider https://www.nytimes.com/ and for an poorly designed interface let us consider https://news.yahoo.com/

For this choice we need to understand why does this nytimes move leap ahead of the old and sluggish design of yahoo news.

The first look what we get on both of these websites, the yahoo news seems quite clustered and packed which no user would like to see. Conventionally, a user would like to see news as bulletins or small thumbnails. This basically helps the user filter out the points or the news that interests him/her the most and weeding out the other unnecessary and unrelated news.

Next, let us look into the basic look and feel of the websites home page. The nytimes looks basically like a normal news paper and a user visiting the website has a good experience scrolling through the newsfeed. On the other hand the yahoo news shows the news in rather unrelated and unorganized manner.

The most annoying thing about the yahoo news is the sponsered news which is kind of the most important drawback of the website. The news website doesn't seem like a news website, but kind of a blog website with sponsored content floating about the main viewing area. On the other hand nytimes has a descent display of news with nearly minimal to no sponsored advertisements or sponsored news.

The other most important feature of an interface specially a content providing newsw website is its navigation features. No user would like to see all kinds navigation menus floating aroung the top. The best way to implement this navigation options is using a navigation bars like we have in most of the mobile applications and also in majority of the websites these days. It helps the user find the related content or the navigation content in a much better way.  

These things make nytimes a much better interface than yahoo news.
